Hello

I have been a teacher for 34 years, working in both the UK and Gibraltar. I have worked in both the state and the private sectors and was Head of English for six years at Beaconsfield High School in Buckinghamshire before I moved to Wycombe Abbey.

At Wycombe Abbey, where I taught for 17 years, I honed my university advising skills, training staff on applications and references and working on a one-to-one basis with students as a senior leader in the Sixth Form and Head of Lower Sixth. In my final years there I became the school’s Overseas Universities Advisor, working with students applying to American institutions as well as Canada and Hong Kong.

Four years ago my husband and I moved to Gibraltar where I became the first Head of Sixth Form and member of the Senior Leadership Team at Prior Park School in Gibraltar. I am extremely proud of the destinations of our Sixth Form leavers which include Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, Durham, UCL, Bristol, Bath, Exeter and Southampton and whose degree choices range from Medicine to Fine Art. We also have students studying in America, Spain and the Czech Republic.

 

As a parent of two young men aged 22 and 24, I understand the difficulties students can encounter and appreciate the best ways of supporting them. In August 2022 I decided to become a consultant. I now work as an independent higher education advisor for some institutions including Prior Park and GGHS as well as private clients. My aim is to give clear advice to young people at a vital stage in their lives, thus enabling them to make informed choices.
